Journal Quilt for January

Here is a sketch of my January Journal Quilt. There will be four little Julies on this quilt. One will be scuba diving, one will be snorkeling, one will be rock/mountain climbing, and the final one will be in a hot air balloon. Ok, French Impressionist I am not, but I get the idea from this picture. I think a lot of my journal pieces are going to have the ocean on them. I think I am just a beach bum at heart.

I too like theocean, but with red hair and fair skin I am so not a beach bum.... (I'll stroll at night & I'm going to snorkel in Australia.....)

BTW Appliqueing after quilting is do-able, because I slip the needle into the seam of the applique piece - not from the back & all of my stitches are taken from the top... With that said - I haven't actually started to do that applique....

What fun! It will make a great January JQ - showing various sides of Julie.

If you are doing a landscape page, have you checked out Allison's blog yet? She has some steps outlined.

Were you around when we were having the conversation about Dale Chihuly? I've never been able to imagine how he looks at his working drawings and then creates those gorgeous blown glasses pieces - I can't translate the 2-dimensional into 3- dimensional. As long as you can do the translation, that's all that matters -- you're the only one who has to envision the end result from the working drawing I think. It will be fun to see your little clones in all their active glory!
