And wow betide anyone one who gave me a hard time.
In a restaurant in Alice Springs an elder gentleman had the nerve to glare at me. i glared back and kept on breast feeding :)
I'm with the others it's unbelievable you see what you see down the street. Girls in far to short and tight clothing and Mother's get glared at for breastfeeding!
In Australia it is against the law to descriminate due to breastfeeding.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09148269645579805520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17954880.post-1531980289345079962007-01-15T18:05:00.000-08:002007-01-15T18:05:00.000-08:00Lovely piece! I can't believe that there are still people that have a problem with nursing in public. It doesn't suprise me actually, it just upsets me that they act on it. Oh well, I think there are way more that support it, so I should be happy for that.Fruit Jar Nickyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01005986621095045593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17954880.post-1781739710478539652007-01-14T09:06:00.000-08:002007-01-14T09:06:00.000-08:00I echo the sentiments of the sisters above. It floors me to think that in this day of rap music, obscene lanquage and rampant sex on TV (and half-naked cheerleaders), that people still make a fuss about nursing. Good grief.

The piece is great! I love the concept, too. We went to our family reunion, in Alabama, and Mom waged a campaign to get me to stop nursing. It worked, I'm sorry to say, as I was all of 22 and didn't have all that great info we have about it now.
In '95, I had the boy scout and nursed him. Unfortunately, my marriage to his dad ended and he was a little harder to comfort, so he nursed until he was around 18 months old. My mother and I were on the phone and he walked up to me and said, "Nurse, nurse." Mom was insensed...in her thick southern drawl she told me, "It seems to me if that baby can say nurse, he don't need to be a'doin' it!"
Love your block! While I don't agree with shaming women who choose not to nurse, I do think it is one of the most natural ways to bond with one's child. I am so glad that my daughter has chosen to nurse her own children.

Not that most mothers choose to nurse in public, they simply respond to hungry infants!
